Snakes in Commercial Real Estate Waters

April Charney, a legal aid defense attorney in specializing in representing homeowners defending foreclosures describes the the loan officers, appraisers, investment bankers, attorneys and others that she believes are responsible for the nation’s worsening financial crisis as "snakes."  For some of her clients she has staved off foreclosure for over 40 years.  There can be no doubt that there has been sloppiness, greed and outright fraud in the murky waters of the residential foreclosure business.  But one wonders how many of those snakes have been swimming in commercial real estate waters and for how long.  My guess is that over the next few years, we are about to find out.
